Fall 2011Newsletter

The Chatham-Kent Branch of ORMTA has several activities planned for the new Fall Season.

On Saturday, October 15th, the members will enjoy a historical walk through downtown Chatham, and enjoy lunch together in the historical building occupied by William’s Café. At the beginning of the walk, ORMTA members and their friends will each deliver a bag of groceries to our Food Bank. This is an activity encouraged and sponsored by ORMTA’s umbrella organization, CFMTA (Canadian Federation of Music Teachers  Associations.)

Our Contemporary Showcase, a non-competitive celebration of Canadian music, is planned for November  18th and 19th .  Our adjudicators for this event are  Frank Horvat, piano, and Catherine McKeever, voice. Frank Horvat is  a teacher, composer and performer from Toronto. Catherine McKeever is a teacher, performer and adjudicator from Windsor. This will be our third annual Contemporary Showcase, with approximately sixty-five participants in voice and piano classes.

Three ORMTA Recitals are planned for this term, and four recitals are planned for the January to June term.

Entries for the Spring Kiwanis Music Festival will be due in November. We, as music teachers, encourage our students to perform in recitals and festivals as part of their music education.

Chatham-Kent ORMTA appreciates the support we receive from parents, students and the community at large.
