Fall 2007 Newsletter

Fall is a busy time for teachers and students as we settle back into routines of teaching and studying. Here are some upcoming highlights for our branch.

Fall Recitals

We hope to have a good turnout for our fall recitals. Our popular Hallowe'en Recital takes place October 24th at St. Andrew's United Church. Young students are welcome to wear their costumes.

Canada Music Week Recital

On November 21st we will host our annual Canada Music Week Recital.  This year we are holding the recital at Studio One at the Chatham Cultural Centre. Our last recital of 2007 is our Christmas Recital. Join us December 12th at St. Andrew's United Church to celebrate the season.

Zone Convention

The Chatham-Kent Branch of ORMTA is excited to be the hosts of the Western Zone Convention this year. The convention takes place Friday, October 26th, 2007 at St. Andrew's United Church. Clinician Francis Balodis will be discussing "Learning Styles." All are welcome to attend. Please check out our Activities link for further details.

Young Artist Competition

Our 2007 Young Artist Competition was adjudicated by London teacher and clinician Anita Ruthig. Congratulations to Cynthia Lussier, student of Jim Prosser and Christine McMillan. Cynthia placed first for both her vocal and instrumental performances and went on to represent Chatham-Kent at the Provincial level. We look forward to our 2008 Competition.
